Water- Nature's Beauty Secret

One of the greatest beauty tips that I could give to anyone is to drink plenty of water. The benefits of being properly hydrated are limitless. Ensuring that you drink at least 8 - 12 eight ounce glasses of water a day will help improve the way you look and feel. In order for our body to function properly, we need to eat healthy diets and drink plenty of fluids, preferably water. Water has no calories and its purity is an asset to our organs. We need a fresh daily supply of water to keep our bladder, kidneys and colon functioning properly. Water allows our hair and nails to grow and helps to give our skin a healthy and radiant appearance. Drinking water flushes the toxins we have in our systems. The removal of these toxins helps to improve our skins appearance.

When drinking your daily allotment of water, be very careful to drink your water over an extended time period. Drinking large amounts of water at one time can lead to having too much water in your system which is similar to flooding the river. This can cause the removal of valuable vitamins and electrolytes that we need. If you are exercising or working in a field that required physical endurance, than your water intake will be more rapid because the circumstance calls for the steady replacement of fluids that you may be losing as you exercise and work. For everyone else, gradually drink your water through out the day. This way the body is able to use the water more effectively. Have a glass of water before and/or with each meal. Before you know it, you will be eliminating soda and other more caloric beverages from your diet.

A lot of my friends tell me that drinking water is boring and that they can not get used to drinking so much water each day. My suggestion is to try to eliminate a beverage or two a day with a bottle of water and gradually work your way up to your daily required amount. Every step toward making the change is a benefit to you and your body. There are calorie-free and sugar free flavor enhancers that you may add to your water if the taste of the water is still a major issue for you. However, please read the packaging of the flavor enhancers to make sure they do not contain sugar, sugar alcohols, high fructose corn syrup or sodium. Also, check the bottled water that you are drinking and make sure it does not contain sodium. Some manufacturers add salt to the water for added freshness. The salt (sodium) in the water can cause edema or the retention of water in your system which causes swelling and bloating.

If you prefer to drink tap water, then my suggestion is to purchase a water filtering system. Common tap water can contain minerals and Chlorine. The cleaner the water is, the better it will be for you and the health of your skin.

Put Some Color Into Your Wardrobe

The 2008 Summer Olympics will be beginning soon. I took a look at the five connecting rings that is the official symbol for the Olympics and thought how beautiful the colors were. Both the diversity of the Olympics participants as well as the colorful exchange of the rings, brought to mind how fashion for plus size women has changed over the years.

Long gone are the days where being a plus size woman meant that you were only given choices of clothing in dark colors such as navy blue, black, brown and possibly dark grey. It was once believed that because of our ampleness in size, wearing darker colors would help to mask the appearance of our curves, humps, and lumps. I know that even to this day, I still believe wearing all black makes me look smaller. The reality however, is that I am a plus size woman and have come to accept it and embrace every inch of me.

I used to get very upset because I knew what Victoria's Secret was. The only thing in the store to fit a plus size woman was the lotion and perfume. Now there are numerous places that cater to the woman of size. We are now able to purchase intimate apparel in an array of colors, materials, and textures. We are no longer destined to the world of beige, black and white bras only.

We now have the variety of purchasing our business attire as well as our casual wear in a multitude of colors and patterns. When I look into my closet now, I have items arranged in all major color groups. I am daring and bold in my color choices at times because I can be. If you are a person who has not adventured into adding vibrant and bold colors to your wardrobe maybe you should try it. Experiment with different colors and see which ones bring out the radiance in your smile. A splash of color is all you maybe needing to get your day started in the right direction.

"Rest is not idleness, and to lie sometimes on the grass on a summer day listening to the murmur of water, or watching the clouds float across the sky, is hardly a waste of time. "

Dirty hands, iced tea, garden fragrances thick in the air and a blanket of color before me, who could ask for more?"
