Presenting your best Personal Best
Recently, I was laid off from my job of eleven years and have found myself having to reevaluate my skills and experience to prepare myself for a job search. It is difficult enough to find appropriate attire when you are a SSBBW and it takes even more concentration and dedication when searching for business attire. I am a person who prides herself on looking great. I feel a responsibility to represent plus size women in a positive way and show society that the ample size of my waist line is no excuse for being sloppy or having a disheveled appearance. My outward appearance conveys an image of confidence and inner strength. I take pride in all that I do and it is reflected by my attitude and my appearance.
I get my nails manicured weekly along with having my eyes brows arched. Making time for personal grooming is very important to maintaining a neat and professional appearance. I also visit my hairstylist biweekly to ensure that my hair is hydrated and healthy. I am capable of maintaining my hairstyle but enjoy having my hair done professionally. I get a facial once a month to ensure that I am properly cleansing and caring for my skin. Pedicures are done monthly also. I drink at least four 16oz bottles of water a day to aid in my nail and hair care.
Now as I go through the interviewing process, my confidence is high and I am able to concentrate on my job skills and experience instead of worrying about being judged for my appearance as a plus size person.
