May 2007 - Our FA was J. from Texas

SSBBW Magazine: How long have you been an FA?

FA: As long as I can remember!! Even when I was in grade school I always had crushes on the largest girls in class. There was a lot of peer pressure against that, at the time, but I never let it really bother me.

SSBBW Magazine: Have you always been open with family/friends about being attracted to large women or did you try to hide it?

FA: Growing up there was a lot of peer pressure to conform my tastes and desires to the perceived feminine "ideal." I never really was able to do that as I simply wasn't interested in dating a thin woman. So the fact is, my friends and family have always known my tastes by default based on the kinds of women I have had in my life. I didn't have to "come out of the closet" - I was never in it in the first place!

SSBBW Magazine: What attracts you to ssbbw?

FA: That's like asking why a Da Vinci is beautiful or why Mozart sounds so wonderful! To my eyes, SSBBWs are simply beautiful women and each is beautiful in their own way. Yes, I love lots of curves and the physical bounty that is associated with a big beautiful woman. But personality and character are always the things that make any woman attractive.

SSBBW Magazine: What is your ideal woman?

FA: I have no "ideal." Like all people I have "fantasies," but I know those are not reality, just imaginings for my own pleasure. I never judge people based on the notion of an unattainable ideal!

SSBBW Magazine: What are the joys of being with an ssbbw?

FA: Of course the physical pleasure is immense! But SSBBWs are just like any other women in terms of their personalities and I have approached them as such. Just because you're big doesn't make you different. For me, the simple joy of compansionship is good enough.

SSBBW Magazine: What are the drawbacks?

FA: There can be physical and health problems and those must be dealt with in a caring and sensitive fashion. But this isn't anything I wouldn't do for ANY person I care about. Again, as a large person myself I believe in extending all people the same concern and dignity regardless of their size.

SSBBW Magazine: If your woman wanted to have weight loss surgery would you support her? Stay with her?

FA: I would support her desire for weight loss, but not weight loss surgery, for two key reasons. First, it is an unproven and dangerous technique. A lot of people die or suffer grave illness from complications and that isn't worth it. Secondly, weight loss surgery forces your body to retain fewer calories but it doesn't improve overall physical and, yes, mental health. In short, people who go through WLS are just "fat people" in a "skinny" body.

I have wrestled with my own weight my whole life and as such I work out and eat healthily (most of the time!) That keeps my blood pressure, cholesterol, and other bodily functions in good shape even though I'm fat. That's the true path to good health, not a quick fix from the surgeon's knife. That is the path I would encourage anyone to take - no matter how big you are, there is usually an option.

And it goes without saying I would always stick around!

SSBBW Magazine: If your woman was unable to leave the house or needed constant care and help because of her size, would you be there for her?

FA: Of course! Any decent person would always be there for their loved one!

SSBBW Magazine: Is there such a thing too big?

FA: Yes! A lot of us have fantasies, but some have a hard time telling the fantasy from reality. No one should have to deal with immobility or chronic health problems due to a lover's obsession with size!

SSBBW Magazine: What would you like to say to all the SSBBWs reading this?

FA: You're perfect, beautiful, and wonderful! I'm just glad to know this world possesses such beauty!

SSBBW Magazine: What would you like to say to all the FAs reading this?

FA: If you are lucky enough to be with the woman of your dreams, treat her well! She is special and deserves to be treated as such!

SSBBW Magazine: What would you like to say to those just reading this out of curiosity about the SSBBW / FA community?

FA: In our own way, we are all unique, with our own likes, loves, and pleasures. I just want to live in a world where everyone is treated with dignity and respect.
